COUNTYWIDE : Fees Expected to Rise at Parks, Marinas
The Board of Supervisors is expected today to increase user fees at the county’s campgrounds and marinas.
Under the proposal, overnight beach camping fees would go up $1 a night and slip use at the county’s two marinas would increase by $15 per month for small boats, said Blake Boyle, manager of recreation services.
The increases would be the first in Ventura County in 14 months and would raise $95,000 for recreation every year, officials said. “All of our operations are financed through user fees,” Boyle said. “We have no tax support.”
The county rates would still be about $1 lower than fees at state-run parks in the area. Marina fees would also be about $1.50 lower than other facilities in the county, Boyle said.
Fees for large groups at picnic grounds would increase $10, as would fees for the county’s equestrian arena.
Boat slip fees for commercial fishing would go up about 65 cents to $6.12 a foot per month, and recreational boat docking fees would climb 69 cents to $6.40 a foot, Boyle said.
