BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : ANGELS : Hays Resigns From the Front Office

John Hays, senior vice president for marketing since 1984, resigned. His responsibilities will be covered by Bob Wagner, director of marketing, John Sevano, director of creative services, and Jann Mueller, assistant director of creative services.

Kyle Abbott, who graduated from Mission Viejo High and led Cal State Long Beach to the College World Series in 1989, will make his major league debut tonight in Anaheim Stadium. . . . Fernando Valenzuela was released from his contract with triple-A Edmonton by mutual consent.
