West Covina : POW/MIA Flag to Be Flown
A black flag will be flown at the Civic Center in remembrance of soldiers missing in action or prisoners of war in Vietnam.
Joe Balli, representing the U.S. Vietnam Veterans of Southern California, asked the City Council on Monday to put up the POW/MIA flag. Balli said the organization wants the flag flown until the United States starts bringing home prisoners who have been sighted in Southeast Asia.
Although Balli gave the city a small flag on Monday, it will be replaced with a larger banner, probably at a ceremony later this month.
The veterans organization will sponsor a POW rally at 10 a.m. Saturday at the American Legion’s West Covina Post on Azusa Avenue, Balli said.
