Orange Coast Opens Against Long Beach
Orange Coast College, the defending Mission Conference Central Division champion, opens its season tonight with a 7 p.m. game against Long Beach at Veterans Stadium.
OCC went 8-3 last season and made its first bowl appearence since 1975. The Pirates lost to El Camino, 23-20, in the Orange County Bowl.
OCC has only three starters back on offense and three on defense, but all-conference running back Adrain Steen is among them. Steen ran for 891 yards in the regular season.
The game also marks the beginning of OCC Coach Bill Workman’s sixth season at the school. Workman has a 31-20 record. OCC opened the 1990 season with a 30-0 victory over Long Beach.
