“Dances With Wolves” is creeping up on “Home Alone,” still the leader of the Billboard rental chart, having inched up two notches to No. 2. But many retailers will say “Dances With Wolves” is already their No. 1 rental. For a box-office bust, “True Colors,” starring John Cusack and James Spader, is doing well, jumping from No. 25 to No. 12. “Le Femme Nikita,” the hit French action movie, debuted at No. 26 and could be the year’s most popular foreign-language rental.

Wrong video--”The Doors: The Soft Parade, a Retrospective,” which was released on video Sept. 12, entered the video rental chart at No. 38. Due to incorrect information supplied by chart compilers, Oliver Stone’s movie “The Doors” was incorrectly reported at No. 38 in Thursday’s Calendar. Stone’s film will be available on video on Wednesday.

* During this typical September lull in major releases, “The Doors,” director Oliver Stone’s grim biography of the ‘60s rock group, should stand out. The movie entered the chart at No. 38 but should leap up next week, possibly into the Top 10.
