Resurfacing of Highway May Slow Traffic

For the next four to five weeks, a road-resurfacing project may cause delays to motorists on a 22.8-mile stretch of Angeles Crest Highway, between the Foothill Freeway in La Canada Flintridge and Charlton Flats campground.

Caltrans officials say the construction is designed to rehabilitate the road by putting down a layer of liquid asphalt that is then covered with pebble-sized rocks.

Work will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to dusk, according to the state Department of Transportation, which is overseeing the project that began Tuesday. One lane of the two-lane highway, California 2, will be open at all times.
