MISSION VIEJO : Colleges Agree on Engineering Pact

Some Saddleback College engineering majors who complete required course work will be guaranteed admission into the engineering school at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, beginning with the 1992-93 school year.

Up to 10 students who take the required courses while maintaining a 2.75 grade-point average will automatically be accepted into the school under an agreement with Saddleback College.

Saddleback also has pacts with the UC Berkeley, Davis, Irvine and San Diego campuses, and with Cal State Fullerton and Chapman University, but most of the schools guarantee admission of a specific number of all students, rather than those majoring in a particular subject.

Saddleback officials said the agreement is an important step for the school’s engineering majors, who previously were at a disadvantage because of the vast numbers of students who apply to Cal Poly’s engineering program.
