Nation IN BRIEF : NATIONWIDE : Democrats’ Image Declining, Poll Finds

A new Gallup poll shows the Democratic Party’s public image is at a historic low: 63% of Americans give the party a favorable rating today, down from 65% in 1984 and 75% in 1981. And for the first time since Watergate, significantly more people have a favorable opinion of the Republican Party (69%) than the Democratic Party (63%). The results are based on telephone interviews with a randomly selected national sample of 1,005 adults conducted Sept. 5-8.
