Rockwell Awarded Missile Contract
ANAHEIM — Rockwell International Corp. has won an Air Force contract valued at $50.3 million to adapt the guidance system for the MX nuclear missile to function in the planned Midgetman missile.
Rockwell’s Autonetics Strategic Systems division will develop the basketball-size inertial measurement unit, or guidance system, for the Midgetman over five years.
Contract options could extend the value of the contract to $69.1 million by September, 1998.
The contract will result in reassignment of some people but no new hiring, spokeswoman Christine Rodriguez said.
