Star Attractions: : Where the buffalo roam
The buffalo on the Star B Buffalo Ranch east of Ramona wear their star status on their hides.
According to ranch manager Ken Childs, the 65 or so buffalo are some of the most pampered hooved animals in the United States. That’s because the ranch sells its prize-winning stock for both meat and breeding purposes.
If you want to make them part of your evening out, you don’t need to get your boots dirty, though. They can be seen in the film “Hot Shots!” which is a spoof of an earlier North County-based film, “Top Gun.”
According to Childs, the production company for “Hot Shots” paid the ranch $5,000 for three days of filming.
