Pacific Palisades : Ruling on Neighborhood
A judge has ruled in favor of a dissident neighborhood group that had opposed changes to the codes, covenants and restrictions governing a 500-home neighborhood in Pacific Palisades.
In a ruling made public last week, Superior Court Judge Ronald M. Sohigian said that the Huntington Palisades Property Owners Assn. did not have the authority to make the changes. Opponents argued that the changes would unfairly restrict their property rights.
“We view it as a victory for the people,” said Richard A. Littlestone, a spokesman for Friends of the Huntington Palisades, which brought the challenge.
His group had argued that the changes sought by the property owners association would restrict future landscaping, remodeling and construction in the neighborhood, as well as unfairly raise association dues for a majority of residents.
