Bill Shoemaker, who rode more winners than any other jockey in horse racing history, will fly home to Arcadia today after spending five months in a Denver hospital specializing in spinal cord and head injuries. Shoemaker suffered a severe spinal-cord injury in an accident in April in San Dimas when his car veered off a freeway and rolled down an embankment. He is paralyzed from the upper chest down.
