Sonora Knocks Whittier Christian Out in Second Half
LA HABRA — Todd Fletcher scored three touchdowns as Sonora defeated Whittier Christian, 35-12, Friday in a nonleague football game at La Habra High School.
The Raiders (1-2) led, 14-12, midway through the third quarter but broke the game open behind the play of Fletcher.
First he scored on a five-yard run. He then caught a 31-touchdown pass from Robert Knowles.
Fletcher finished with 57 yards rushing and 62 receiving. He also had a two-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
Whittier Christian took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter on a 70-yard touchdown run by Aaron Meschuk, who finished with 126 yards in 12 carries.
Sonora scored two touchdowns in the second quarter and led, 14-6, at halftime.
