Oxnard 37, Channel Islands 21--Junior quarterback Larry Bumpus completed 11 of 21 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Yellowjackets at Channel Islands.

Dan Duchai kicked a 26-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter to give Oxnard (3-0) a 24-21 lead as the Yellowjackets scored 16 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.

Channel Islands (1-2) took a 14-0 first-quarter lead on touchdown runs of 14 and three yards by running back David Cox.

Oxnard finally got untracked in the second quarter as Bumpus threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Chris Kalaleh (six catches for 162 yards) to cap an eight-play, 80-yard drive.

In his first start of the season, Channel Islands quarterback Cesar Puga completed 15 of 30 passes for 196 yards, including a 37-yard scoring pass to wide receiver Chris Weist in the third quarter.
