Duarte : TV Studio Move Delayed
The City Council last week delayed the relocation of the city’s public access television studio from Duarte High School after a county official said the move might cause loss of the service.
Assistant City Manager Manuel Ontal said city officials planned this week to ask for an extension to allow Duarte Public Access Inc. to keep its facility in the high school until a suitable space can be found.
The Duarte Unified School District gave the company one week’s notice to vacate by last Friday. District officials said the room is needed for county Regional Occupational Program classes.
The district offered to let the company use space in the Duarte Performing Arts Center. But Mary Somerlott, chairwoman of the County Services Commission, told the council Tuesday that the new facility lacks adequate wiring and acoustical properties for video production.
