Disney Hall: ‘Work of Art’ or Wet Cardboard?
In reference to the proposed Disney Hall shown in the Real Estate section: Why does Disney want to trash L.A.? Is it to show Disney’s contempt for the people in Los Angeles or simply an expression of disgust for Southern California in general? Just as the Sydney Opera House represents a sail boat in Sydney harbor, Disney Hall is symbolic of a clump of trash in the gutter of Los Angeles. Frank Gehry must have been inspired by the litter on some of the downtown sidewalks. Let us hope that he is not further inspired by the ubiquitous graffiti in his effort to reflect the local culture.
