COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Rabbitt Takes Title at UC Riverside

Former UC Irvine runner Buffy Rabbitt, now competing for Nike Coast, won the UC Riverside Cross-Country Invitational in 17:06 over the 5,000 meter course Saturday at UC Riverside.

Irvine’s B team finished second to UCLA with 84 points and Southern California College finished 12th with 330 points. UCLA scored 49 points.

Sita Jones was Irvine’s top finisher, finishing seventh in 18:05.

At the Angelo State women’s volleyball tournament:

Chapman Finishes Sixth--Rena Strange had 17 kills for Chapman College, which lost to Missouri St. Louis, 15-6, 15-10, 14-16, 9-15, 15-11. Chapman (11-8) finished sixth in the tournament.

At the Nor Cal water polo tournament:

Cal 9, UC Irvine 5--Irvine’s Steve Gill scored the first goal of the game before the fourth-ranked Anteaters (7-2) lost control to top-ranked Cal (10-0).
