Washington St. Kicker Hanson Gets 62-Yarder
LAS VEGAS — Drew Bledsoe scored two touchdowns and threw for another and Jason Hanson kicked a 62-yard field goal Saturday night as Washington State rolled over Nevada Las Vegas, 40-13.
The Cougars won for the first time after opening the season with three consecutive losses. UNLV is 2-2.
Hanson’s field goal was the longest in NCAA history without a kicking tee. The record with a tee is 67 yards, first by Russell Erxleben of Texas in 1977, matched later that year by Steve Little of Arkansas, and by Joe Williams of Wichita State in 1978.
Earlier in the victory over UNLV, Hanson, a senior, missed from 57 yards.
