STYLE : DESIGN : The Tartan Table

Fashion isn’t the only area where plaid is making a fresh statement. For his home furnishings collection, designer Ralph Lauren mixes plaid with a floral pattern on a five-piece place setting, plus a large bowl, teapot, sugar bowl and creamer ($90-$275), all made by Wedgwood. This fall’s Tartan Collection, available at the Polo shops in Beverly Hills and at the South Bay Galleria, also features other unconventional uses of the crossbars: on furniture, wallpapers, fabrics, sheets, blankets and pillow shams. But if all you’re looking for is a wee bit of the Scottish Highlands for your table, the plaid napkin rings ($16) should do.
