VENTURA : Boy, 16, Arrested in Gang Shooting
Ventura police on Tuesday arrested a 16-year-old Ventura youth on suspicion of attempted murder in a gang shooting Sunday at the Todd Ranch apartment complex, police said.
Sgt. Roger Nustad said the male suspect, whose name was not released, is accused of shooting Patrick Kelly, 18, of Ventura with a single bullet in the arm and hip.
Nustad said Kelly had called the youth, warning that he was coming over to beat up the boy. Nustad said the boy then armed himself and shot Kelly after he arrived at the complex, which is at Ramelli Avenue and Telephone Road.
“There was bad blood between the two combatants, but the attack was just cold-blooded,” Nustad said.
Kelly was taken to Ventura County Medical Center after the 5:16 p.m. incident. He was treated and released Monday, a hospital official said.
