Scot Holton; Film Publicist, Critic of Attitude Toward AIDS
Scot Holton, 52, a veteran film publicist who had recently appeared on television talk shows to complain about the way he was treated by the industry after receiving a diagnosis that he was HIV positive. He said that once diagnosed with the AIDS virus he was fired and unable to find work, another victim of Hollywood’s position of abandoning AIDS victims on the one hand while raising funds for them on the other. The recent AIDS-related death of actor Brad Davis has pushed that conflict into the spotlight. Before working in films, Holton taught retarded children in the Philadelphia school system.
