Lightening caused the Umbra Master Classic game between San Diego State and Indiana to be suspended after the first half in St. Louis with Indiana leading, 1-0.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Shannon Mathew had six kills and Jennifer Miller five, but San Diego State lost to Santa Clara, 15-2, 15-12, 15-12, in a nonconference match at Santa Clara. SDSU, now 6-9, plays at the University of San Francisco tonight. Santa Clara is 11-6.

UC San Diego, ranked No. 1 in Division III, had an 11-match winning streak stopped by Cal Poly-Pomona, 15-5, 9-15, 15-7, 15-13, in a non-conference match at UCSD. Vikki Van Duyne had 15 kills and Dana Simone added 11 for UCSD (14-3). Cal Poly Pomona, ranked No. 12 in Division II, is 11-3.

Robin Rabello had 12 kills, but Point Loma Nazarene College (9-9, 1-3) was defeated by Azusa Pacific, 13-15, 15-3, 15-6, 15-12, in a Golden State Athletic Conference match at Azusa Pacific. Host Azusa Pacific (17-6, 5-0) is ranked No. 7 in NAIA.
