Teaching Creationism

Deja vu! There is now before the federal court in Santa Ana a case that will educate students on what our grandparents may have endured when discussing the theories of creationism and evolution. It is the Scopes trial revisited, only this time creationism must substantiate itself as valid enlightenment.

I agree that both theories have valid arguments. However, I find the treatment that creationism has endured over the years is truly dumbfounding. Those who believe that evolution is the only theory, simply because at one time evolution was christened as the “valid scientific theory,” are guilty of the same misconceptions as those who would argue creationism as the only “valid theory.”

It is about time that proponents of creationism prepare themselves and gather support; both theories have their own validity and neither theory is pre-eminent. Both theories should be taught. This would allow the students the privilege of reaching their own opinion.
