ORANGE : Program to Examine ‘At-Risk’ Students
The Orange Unified School District plans a program for parents, teachers and others who work with troubled students on Monday from 7:30 a.m. to noon at Canyon High School.
The program, designed by a teachers committee, will feature 35 presentations on how to identify and help “at-risk” students, who are from dysfunctional families, exhibit low self-esteem, are in danger of failing or dropping out of school, are prone to substance abuse or are depressed, angry or disruptive.
Psychologists, doctors, education specialists, law enforcement personnel and other experts will participate in workshops on gangs, student depression, dysfunctional families and other issues.
