School Board OKs Condom Distribution
Associated Press
SAN FRANCISCO — Free condoms will be distributed at all 16 of San Francisco’s public high schools as early as next spring in a pilot program intended to slow the spread of AIDS.
The Board of Education overwhelmingly approved the plan this week after hearing emotional testimony from health professionals, parents and young people. The school board also agreed to distribute other forms of birth control, including diaphragms and the pill, as well as condoms at a county-sponsored medical clinic at Balboa High School.
