VIEW FROM HERE: The Times asked several people in Orange County to comment on the sexual harassment furor involving Clarence Thomas (A7). . . . Said Barbara Oliver, executive director of the Orange County Child Abuse Council: “Sexual harassment is victimizing. I don’t think men would continue doing what they do if they knew the impact it has on a woman; that it makes us feel . . . scared and angry. And it’s usually done in a context of someone who has the power to make changes in our lives or our career.” She compared it to child abuse. “It’s the same mentality. Using your position of power to take advantage of someone.”
