Ballet Pension Challenged: Nine prominent ballet dancers, led by Cynthia Gregory, have filed a $20-million lawsuit in Manhattan’s federal court to change the way dancers receive pension benefits. The suit, against the American Guild of Musical Artists, argues that most dancers are forced to retire years before they are eligible for benefits. Sanford I. Wolff, a pension fund trustee, declined to comment on the specific allegations in the lawsuit but denied that dancers were treated unfairly.
