UCLA Student Charged in Assault on Berkeley Fan
Felony assault charges have been filed against a UCLA student accused of kicking a student from rival UC Berkeley during a post-game scuffle Saturday at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
The charges were filed this week in Pasadena Municipal Court against Larry Hoshiharn Weng, 20, of Westwood. Weng is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and battery after he allegedly kicked Richard Pearson, 24, of Walnut Creek, in the face.
According to the district attorney’s office, a group of Berkeley students poured beer on a bus carrying members of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at UCLA. Weng was allegedly among a handful of students who got off the bus and scuffled with the Berkeley students.
