CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SAN FRANCISCO : Most in State Favor Testing Abortion Pill

Nearly two out of three Californians support U.S. testing of RU 486, the French abortion pill, according to a new survey. The California Poll showed that 64% of adults favor testing the drug. Twenty-eight percent of those surveyed are opposed and 8% expressed no opinion. Men favor testing by 65% to 27%, while women support testing by 63% to 28%. Support is weakest and opposition is strongest among Latinos. Forty-five percent of Latinos want RU 486 tested, and 48% of those surveyed oppose clinical trials.
