William M. Greene; Veteran Newspaperman, Biographer
William M. Greene, 94, newspaperman and biographer whose material on Louise Bryant was used in Warren Beatty’s award-winning film “Reds.” Greene spent 30 years in Hollywood writing news and producing shows for radio and television networks and for the defunct Los Angeles Herald Examiner. His latest book, “Nine Decades--How I Lived Them,” was published by Story Line Press last June. Greene sued Beatty in 1982, claiming that Beatty had stolen his work on Bryant for “Reds” and reneged on promises to get the manuscript published. The suit was settled out of court in 1985. On Oct. 4 in Lacey, Wash.
