Eric Sees Red
I was really surprised by Joe Rhodes’ article “Tales From the Douglas Crypt” (TV Times, Aug. 25). It is a pity that he chose to misrepresent me as a professional actor. He portrayed me as “green” and inept, struggling excessively to meet the demands of film acting.
In fact, my request that the “Entertainment Tonight” camera crew leave the set during the filming of an admittedly difficult scene was appropriate and legitimate. Rhodes also implied that my father was “holding my hand” by feeding me a line, but actors typically supply each other with the occasional forgotten line--particularly during emotionally charged scenes such as that one. Articles like this more than justify an actor’s reservations about inviting journalists to the set.
