PRO FOOTBALL: DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Allen to Start Practicing This Week

Tailback Marcus Allen, on injured reserve since the second week of the season, returns to practice this week, but Coach Art Shell said he doesn’t know whether Allen will be ready for Sunday’s game against the Rams. “He’s on target to work this week,” Shell said. “Whether he’ll be ready to go is a different story.”

Other injury updates: After missing three games because of a groin pull, guard Max Montoya’s status remains unclear. Shell said he isn’t sure if Montoya will return this week. . . . Guard Steve Wisniewski, who injured his neck in Sunday’s second half, is reportedly fine. . . . Quarterback Jay Schroeder injured his left wrist late in the game, but X-rays taken at the Kingdome after the game were negative.
