Diamond Bar : General Plan Reconsidered
The General Plan Advisory Committee began its reconsideration of the city’s first general plan last week but deferred decisions on traffic circulation and development for later in the month.
Before the deliberations began, several residents spoke to the committee in opposition to any plan to allow a shopping complex on the Diamond Bar Golf Course. Committee members said they agreed.
City planning assistant Irwin Kaplan then outlined for about 20 residents several means that might be used to alleviate congestion of the city’s streets, among them discouraging freeway access and restricting new through streets. The committee took no action on those proposals.
The meeting Thursday was the first in a series ordered by the City Council to gather public comment and to correct discrepancies found between the committee’s original goals and a draft general plan drawn up by a private consultant.
