ROUNDUP : Wackerman, CLU Race Past Redlands in Women’s Soccer
The Cal Lutheran women’s soccer team is off to a fast start, partly because Rachel Wackerman is too.
Wackerman scored 23 seconds into the match and added another goal as Cal Lutheran defeated Redlands, 3-0, in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match at Cal Lutheran on Wednesday.
Wackerman has 23 goals in 14 matches. Cal Lutheran improved to 11-3, 8-0 in conference play.
Goalie JoAnn Vanderwall recorded her seventh shutout in conference play.
Danielle Deyarmond scored Cal Lutheran’s other goal.
Redlands (2-8, 2-5) attempted 14 shots, Cal Lutheran attempted 33.
BOYS’ WATER POLO
Royal 31, Simi Valley 0--How well did things go for Royal? In a manner of speaking, even the goalkeeper scored three goals.
But it was Jack Kocur and Mike Radka who supplied most of the firepower, scoring 10 goals each in a Marmonte League match at Rancho Simi Park.
Myles Bozinovski added four goals for Royal, which improved to 13-3, 3-0 in league play. Ralph Radka, who alternated between playing the field and tending goal, scored three times.
He alternated with Joe Mix to record Royal’s second shutout.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Pierce d. Santa Monica, 16-14, 15-5, 15-6--Pierce rallied to overcome a 12-2 deficit in the first game en route to a Western State Conference victory at Pierce.
Stephanie Burns had eight kills for Pierce (7-4, 6-2), which had a hitting percentage of .350. Santa Monica is 6-4, 5-3.
La Verne d. The Master’s, 15-9, 16-14, 14-16, 15-10--Angie Davenport and Tami Offermann each had 11 kills for Master’s (15-18), but the Mustangs lost to host La Verne in a nonconference match.
