Benson Helps Los Amigos Win First Game
GARDEN GROVE — Eddie Benson rushed for 113 yards and one touchdown to lead visiting Los Amigos to its first victory of the season, 22-6 over Bolsa Grande. Benson’s 18-yard, first-quarter run gave the Lobos (1-5,1-1) a 7-6 lead with 1:36 to play in the first quarter.
After scoreless second and third quarters, Seilala Faamausili scored for the Lobos midway through the fourth quarter. His five-yard run capped a 14-play, 67-yard drive and made the score 14-6 with 8 minutes 46 seconds to play. Junior Leofa then closed the scoring with a four-yard run with seven seconds to play. Leofa added a two-point conversion run for the final margin.
Benson and Faamausili combined for 186 yards rushing to pace the Los Amigos offense.
Bolsa Grande (1-5, 0-2) scored on its opening drive. Tony Truong capped a five-play, 74-yard drive with a 10-yard run with 5:45 to play in the first quarter. Quarterback Bryan Taylor ran for 54 yards on the Matadors’ first play to set up the score.
