Uninvited Guest Fatally Stabbed After Leaving Party
LA HABRA — A chaperoned party Friday night turned tragic when an uninvited 16-year-old was fatally stabbed after he left the party, police said.
The victim, who was not identified, was stabbed several times in the chest, La Habra Police Sgt. Ron Harryman said. The youth was taken to an area hospital where he died after surgery, Harryman said.
A 43-year-old chaperon, who requested not to be identified, said she called police about 10:10 p.m. Friday night because what started out as a “small party” in the 900 block of Sturbridge Drive ended with more than 100 people crowding into her back yard.
About that time, a youth was noticed walking around the back yard, “just giving people dirty looks,” said an 18-year-old who lives at the house. “No one here knew who he was.”
The uninvited guest left, and was last seen being chased down the street by a group of young men who had been waiting for him outside, according to witnesses.
When officers arrived at the house, they told the party-goers that the boy was found down the street, stabbed and bleeding profusely.
“He just came here and asked for help,” said Cornelia Olivier, 40, who lives in the neighborhood. “He started crying, ‘Please help me. I’m going to die.’ ”
“I told him, ‘Just wait till the police get here, you’re going to be OK,’ ” Olivier recalled. “He said, ‘Thank you.’
