Weldon Fuels No. 1 Florida State Past Middle Tennessee State, 39-10
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Casey Weldon passed for 294 yards and two touchdowns, both to Shannon Baker, as top-ranked Florida State beat Middle Tennessee, 39-10, Saturday.
The Seminoles (7-0) extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 13 games and kept Coach Bobby Bowden’s homecoming record perfect at 16-0.
Middle Tennessee (4-2), ranked seventh in NCAA Division I-AA, held the Seminoles to a 20-10 halftime lead and thwarted Bowden’s hopes of getting early control of the game so he could substitute liberally.
Weldon completed 20 of 33 passes and was intercepted once. His performance overshadowed a school-record 12 consecutive completions by Middle Tennessee freshman Kelly Holcomb, who completed 20 of 28 passes for 188 yards without an interception.
