Six people have been arrested in the gang-related shooting death Oct. 12 of a Mira Mesa man, police reported Sunday.
The arrests follow the shooting of Al de Santiago, who was shot in the chest and killed while sitting in a car and talking with friends in the 100 block of East 6th Street in National City.
Those arrested--all from National City--were identified by National City police as Alfred Meltabarger, 19; Raul Coronado Solis, 24; Sergio Gonzalez, 33; Ricardo Alvarado, 20; Leonel Flores, 18; and a 17-year-old male who was believed to be the triggerman.
A seventh suspect, identified as Michael Angelo Guzman, 18, is still at large and is sought for arrest, said Sgt. Tim Darton.
The seven suspects first attacked Santiago with bats and sticks before he was shot in the chest, Darton said.
