COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : USC : Smith Not Obsessed With Beating Irish
In more than four seasons at USC, Coach Larry Smith is 0-4 against Notre Dame, but Smith said he is not obsessed with beating the Irish.
“I’m not going around here wild-eyed and crazy and nuts,” said Smith, whose team will try to end an eight-game losing streak against the Irish Saturday at South Bend, Ind. “You’ve got to think and you’ve got to coach and you’ve got to prepare. The players can’t go out there with blindfolds on. You can get yourself in trouble doing that. . . .
“I don’t have (beat Notre Dame) painted on my ceiling in my bedroom,” Smith said.
