Ford, Mazda Warn of Transmission Glitch: Ford Motor Co. and Mazda Motor Corp. are warning owners of nearly 789,000 sport-utility vehicles, minivans and pickup trucks about a potential transmission problem. The companies said that when shifted into “park,” the transmission may not hold the vehicle, especially on an incline. The vehicles include the 1991 Mazda Navajo, Ford Aerostar and Ford Explorer and 1990 Aerostar and Ford Ranger. All are equipped with A4LD automatic transmissions. The companies are telling owners to apply parking brakes in addition to shifting into “park.” They said a solution was being developed and owners will be notified by mail.
