Texas Killings and Gun Control
Once again a deranged person has indiscriminately murdered many people with a gun (“23 Shot Dead at Texas Cafeteria,” Oct. 17). Not surprisingly gun-control zealots have been flapping about the incident like carrion crows after a feast. They screech to all who will listen that this incident shows the need to pile more legislation onto the backs of all the rational law-abiding people in this country.
It will, of course, do nothing to prevent a recurrence of this type of incident. Indeed, it would not have prevented it this time. All this will do is ensure that it will be much safer for sick people to kill at will.
With all the bellowing to disarm the people, gun-control backers also ignore that one person inside the restaurant with a gun could have stopped the entire incident or at least reduced the body count.
