Countywide : Rain Ranges From Drops to Downpour
The storm that swept through Ventura County over the weekend dumped up to two-thirds of an inch of rain on part of the county’s backcountry and up to a quarter of an inch in Santa Paula and the eastern county, weather officials reported Sunday.
Moorpark, Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks reported rainfall from a 10th to a quarter of an inch, said Dolores Taylor, senior county hydrologist.
However, rain was little more than a steady drizzle in some coastal areas.
Just 0.16 of an inch fell at Channel Islands Harbor, 0.13 at Point Mugu and 0.09 in Ventura, authorities said.
“This is the first significant rain in the season,” said Terry Schaeffer, meteorologist at the National Weather Service. “I’m guardedly optimistic that we will get at least normal rainfall this year.”
