FISCAL FRIGHT: Is nothing sacred? Seems even Halloween is feeling the recession’s chill. . . . One victim: the 76-year-old Anaheim Halloween Parade, Orange County’s oldest running Halloween tradition. The city will save $50,000 by giving it the ax. . . . Another sign: Pumpkin City, which sells harvest-time items at five locations in Orange County, says it received nearly 500 applications this year for 110 seasonal jobs. In the past, owner Bill Derentz (D7) barely has been able to get enough help. “It’s a great group of workers this year,” he says. “Moms, out-of-work teachers--the cream of the crop.”
