Ford May Build Mazdas in Europe: Ford Motor Co. and Mazda Motor Corp. are close to an agreement under which the U.S. company will make cars in Europe for the Japanese auto maker, Ford officials said. Auto makers view the rapidly expanding European market as critical in the 1990s. Some Japanese firms are setting up assembly plants in Europe in the face of a 16% market-share limit imposed by European Community countries. Buying vehicles from an existing manufacturer, as Mazda would do from Ford, may be more economical than establishing an assembly plant.
