TOURISM : Disneyland, K mart Team Up for Holiday Contest Promotion
While Walt Disney World in Florida is promoting its 20th anniversary in national television spots, Disneyland has teamed up with the K mart retail chain to spread its name through a sweepstakes promotion.
The “Celebrate a Magical Disneyland Christmas” promotion will be launched Nov. 17 with the distribution of 500 million game cards in K mart advertising circulars. Customers must bring the circular to a K mart store to see if they are a winner.
The top prize is $500,000. Another 3,000 winners will receive a four-day, three-night family trip to Disneyland. Other winners will receive color television sets, Kodak cameras and Coca-Cola. The circulars are expected to reach 80% of all U.S. households and the promotion is scheduled to last through Dec. 11.
