A pedestrian was killed and two others injured when a car struck them while they were walking on a sidewalk Wednesday night, San Diego police said.
The accident took place on Euclid Avenue near California 94 about 8 p.m.
Maria Vasquez, 35, died at the scene, about a mile from her home. Injured were her son Adrian, 16, and her sister-in-law, Silia Bueno, 37. They were taken to Mercy Hospital. Adrian was in fair condition after surgery on his hip. Bueno’s injuries were not specified.
The driver of the car, Victor Berry, 21, of San Diego apparently fell asleep at the wheel, police Sgt. Mike Heally said.
