Saturn, UAW Reach Agreement: The accord covers about 4,700 workers in Michigan and at Saturn’s assembly plant in Spring Hill, Tenn. No details were available on the changes in the company’s contract with the United Auto Workers. Topics addressed during bargaining included retirement benefits and health-care costs, said Mark Tanner, a spokesman for Saturn’s parent, General Motors Corp. The agreement has no expiration date. When Saturn and union officials signed the original contract, they agreed that it would be reviewed one year after production started. Saturn began shipping cars to dealers in October, 1990.
