Santana 13, Grossmont 13--No. 8 Grossmont (7-0-1) recorded its fourth tie in three seasons. Santana improved to 3-4-1.

Crawford 44, Marian 0--Michael Bell rushed for 147 yards on 10 carries and caught a touchdown pass, and Altie Parker gained 103 yards in five carries for Crawford (2-4). Marian fell to 0-8.

Palomar League

Torrey Pines 28, Orange Glen 6--Running back Josh Stern ignited Torrey Pines’ ground game in the second half and led the ninth-ranked Falcons (7-1, 5-0) to the victory in Escondido. The Falcons gained 209 yards rushing. Stern had 75 yards, including a five-yard touchdown. Quarterback Omar Navarro completed 20 of 34 passes for 184 yards for Orange Glen (4-3-1, 1-3-1).

Poway 21, Mt. Carmel 3--Poway (1-7, 1-4) got touchdown runs of eight, two and five yards from Damian Richey. Marlin Carey, who was averaging 6.9 yards per carry, was limited to 85 yards on 21 attempts for Mt. Carmel (1-7, 1-4).

Rancho Buena Vista 33, San Dieguito 6--Ragan Jackson rushed 22 times for 280 yards and two touchdowns, and Edric Hall rushed 15 times for 90 yards and two more scores to lead RBV (4-4, 3-2). San Dieguito is 1-6-1, 0-4-1.

City Eastern League

Mira Mesa 31, Morse 13--Sixth-ranked Morse (5-3, 2-1) had little success shutting down quarterback Chad Davis, who threw for 181 yards and two touchdowns on 13-for-19 passing. Davis also had a rushing touchdown. Mira Mesa (5-3, 1-1) led, 21-7, after three quarters. Morse could muster only one offensive touchdown, a 28-yard pass to Dwayne Bostic from Cary Taylor (seven of 12 for 120 yards). The other came on a 50-yard fumble recovery. Mark San Augustine caught seven passes for 125 yards.

Serra 31, Patrick Henry 6--Serra’s Ryan Hanslip rushed 15 times for 122 yards and two touchdowns, and Rodney Knight carried 17 times for 121 yards. Billy Dill (three rushes, 79 yards) scored twice for Serra (4-4, 1-2). Henry fell to 2-5, 1-1.

City Central League

Hoover 20, Madison 20--Hoover, behind by two touchdowns in the second half, scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion to tie the game with less than two minutes left, then blocked a Madison field goal attempt in the closing seconds to maintain the tie. Madison won a tiebreaker, but it should not have much significance since the Warhawks are now 0-7-1, 0-2-1. Hoover fell to 1-6-1, 0-1-1.

The game was delayed nearly a half-hour in the second half when Hoover defensive lineman Pat Sutton suffered a neck injury. He was taken to Kaiser Permanente Hospital for X-rays but wasn’t seriously injured.

City Harbor League

Clairemont 9, Coronado 7--From the 16-yard line, the ball was snapped out of the end zone on the game’s last play to give Clairemont (3-5, 2-1) a safety and the upset. Sean Sadler rushed 14 times for 111 yards, and Kyle Smock had two interceptions for Coronado (5-2-1, 1-1-1).

City Western League

University City 16, Mission Bay 3--Tied, 3-3, in the fourth quarter, Paul Turner (four carries, 83 yards) ran 55 yards for a touchdown to give University City (4-3, 1-2) the victory. Sunny Miller had 69 yards in 16 attempts for Mission Bay (2-5, 0-3).

Avocado League

San Marcos 21, Rancho Bernardo 3--After being named the Knights’ homecoming king before the game, Jaime Lozano had 13 tackles and an interception to lead San Marcos (6-2, 4-1). The Knights’ Mark Frazier had 152 rushing yards on 18 carries. Rancho Bernardo fell to 4-4, 2-3.

Ramona 21, Escondido 16--Ramona (1-7, 1-4) got touchdown runs from Danny McCawley, Rob Klidy and Charles Rice to end a three-game winning streak by Escondido (4-4, 3-1). Klidy ran for 126 yards 22 carries.

El Camino 38, San Pasqual 22--Second-ranked El Camino (7-1, 5-0), which had allowed just 28 points in seven games, led 18-15 at halftime and only 24-22 with 11:48 left before pulling away. The Wildcats’ 83-yard scoring drive, capped by a Mike Gee one-yard run, gave them a 31-22 lead. Gee scored again from 26 yards to end the scoring. Elias Noa scored El Camino’s first three touchdowns.

Grossmont 3-A League

Helix 42, Mt. Miguel 6--Gregg Wilbur hit eight of 11 passes for 90 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown. Chris Baker carried 11 times for 107 yards for Helix (5-2, 1-1). Teneil Ethridge rushed for 113 yards on 20 carries, including a five-yard touchdown run, for Mt. Miguel (3-4, 2-1).

Monte Vista 14, Granite Hills 76--Tommy Haakma returned an interception 75 yards for the game-winning touchdown with about three minutes left. Monte Vista had six interceptions, three by Jason Darling. Robert Adside caught three passes for 84 yards, including a touchdown of 55 yards for Monte Vista (4-4, 1-1). Granite Hills fell to 2-6, 0-3.

Grossmont 2-A League

El Capitan 56, El Cajon 6--Three El Capitan players rushed more than 100 yards each: Jessic Heise (14 carries for 136), Eric Rockhold (17-213) and James Hopkins (14-118). On the night, El Capitan (5-2, 2-0) gained 569 rushing. El Cajon dropped to 0-7, 0-3.

Metro Conference

Chula Vista 52, Mar Vista 0--Senior tailback Lamar Bailey ran for five touchdowns and 242 yards in 16 carries for Chula Vista (6-2, 5-0). Mar Vista fell to 0-5 and 1-6.

Hilltop 20, Bonita Vista 7--Hilltop quarterback Jorge Munoz moved into third on the Section’s all-time list for career passing yards with his 14-of-24 performance for 268 yards. Munoz has thrown for 5,116 yards, which surpasses Kearny’s Tom Rawlins (5,097 from 1987-89). Munoz is within 272 yards of No. 2 Scott Barrick (5,388, 1985-86). On the receiving end were Colby Popplewell (three catches, 40 yards, two touchdowns) and Bobby Lugo (seven catches, 142 yards and one touchdown).

Montgomery 20, Southwest 0--Quarterback Rodney Davenport ran for two touchdowns and threw for another and Montgomery’s defense had seven sacks. Montgomery improved to 2-4-2, 2-2-1. Southwest fell to 3-5, 2-3.

Eight-Man League

Francis Parker 42, Borrego Springs 8--Scott Schneider completed eight of 13 passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns for Francis Parker (4-4, 2-2). Bryn Spradling caught both towndowns.

Santa Fe Christian 34, Julian 14--Sophomore running back Daryl Dalton had 82 yards and three touchdowns to lead Santa Fe Christian (7-0, 4-0).
