Tiger Manager, CLU to Team for Golf Tournament

Cal Lutheran will join Sparky Anderson, manager of the Detroit Tigers baseball team, to present the 12th Sparky Anderson/CLU golf tournament Nov. 18 at Sunset Hills Country Club in Thousand Oaks. Proceeds will benefit the CLU baseball program.

Aside from Anderson, a longtime Thousand Oaks resident, the list of celebrities expected to participate includes current and past baseball players Brook Jacoby, Steve Yeager, Ken McMullen and Larry Sherry and actor Chuck Connors.

Candice Schlom of Calabasas, a 1991 World Cup equestrian finalist and North American Jumper champion, will be riding her Appaloosa show jumper, Chocolate Mousse, as one of her mounts in the Sandstone Fall Classic on Nov. 22-24 in Hidden Valley, Calif.

Suzi Shimoyama, an All-City section point guard for the North Hollywood High girls’ basketball team, has made am oral commitment to attend Cal, North Hollywood Coach Rich Allen said.
