New USC Post: Violinist-conductor Paul Zukofsky will be introduced today as new director of the Arnold Schoenberg Institute at USC, succeeding Leonard Stein. Established in 1974, the institute is a center for Schoenberg research, producing concerts and publishing a biannual journal. Zukofsky, 48, has long championed contemporary music, giving many world premieres and making more than 50 recordings. He is currently a conductor at Juilliard and artistic director of the summergarden concerts at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Zukofsky also will teach string playing, chamber music and conducting at the USC School of Music.
